PRE-CONFERENCE: Moodle Performance Hands-On Tutorial Part1/2

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

Over the last four years, York has invested hardware, tools, and a lot of staff time in improving the performance of our central Moodle infrastructure so that it now routinely supports over 1500 concurrent users.

This tutorial will lead the attendees through a series of exercises, using their own Windows or Macintosh laptops, that introduce the basics of Moodle performance analysis and tuning.  Exercises will include:
  • use of open source tools to simulate high load
  • adjusting MySQL configuration
  • adjusting Moodle front-end configuration
  • adding caching
There will also be demonstrations of commercial tools that York uses for fine-grained performance tuning. ** BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE**: Requirements: 2 or more cores, 4GB or more memory”
