The different facets of accessibility for online learning. How to make your courses accessible for a variety of target groups.  Panel members will focus on:
  • FINANCIAL:  What is the state of students loans in Canada for distance education students?
  • ACCESS & SUPPORT:  A quick peek into YU START.  A new student transition Program designed to support students to make their way into and through first year at York University.  Students connect with fellow classmates, student leaders, faculty members and student services staff, and become more familiar with campus life, supports and resources.
  • DIGITAL OPPORTUNITY TRUST (DOT): is a youth-led movement of daring social innovators who have the tools, knowledge, and networks to create opportunities and transform their own communities.  DOT supports youth to become innovators and leaders, and to create and apply digital solutions that have a positive impact in their communities.
  • MCIS At the heart of this language agency is its interpreter training program, which assists primarily immigrants and refugees to use their mother tongue to link themselves to the economy in Canada.  With over 300 students enrolled in our online community interpreter training program, we’ve had a glimpse of the range of challenges, advantages, and serendipitous connections that can develop through online training. From ways of overcoming despair that can set it from technological difficulties, to the nature of discussion and repository of information that can flourish in this setting, I’d like to discuss how moodle has shaped the
experience of learning for language professionals.
